Small Space Heater

A small space heater that is commercially manufactured and UL approved is built to operate safely when used as intended. Safety is a top consideration when choosing the right small space heater for your application.  The Consumer Products Safety Commission reports that each year about 28,000 house fires can be linked to the use of a small space heater resulting in about 300 annual deaths.  This does not mean that a small space heater is dangerous, it only means that a person should use caution and common sense when utilizing a small space heater to provide additional comfort for you and your family.

The major manufacturers today design their small space heater to keep the little fingers of children away from the fan and heating elements, but the fact still remains that many electric space heaters are still very hot to the touch.  The only way to truly child proof a small space heater is to place it out of the child’s reach by mounting your small space heater on the wall or to place it on a shelf.

When using a small space heater safety is always the most important factor.  You should follow the directions in the box from the manufacturer.  You also should never plug any type of small space heater into a standard household extension cord or one of those 3 sided outlet adapters.  As the old saying goes ... this is an accident waiting to happen.
